STICA Board Members
President
I am passionate about the local community and look forward to forge a mutual partnership of fun and respect. I find deep inspiration from the rich history of STICA in strengthening and advancing the local Indian community in the Southern Tier, and I hope to contribute strongly in advancing the spirit of collaboration, compassion, and unity.
Event Chair & Marketing
Bringing people together through meaningful events has been a passion of mine for as long as i can remember, whether it was coordinating school functions, college festivals or corporate gatherings. Serving as the Event Chair allows me to channel that passion into something deeply purposeful and that is creating spaces where our community can celebrate culture , build connections and feel a sense of belonging home away from home.
Being a part of STICA aligns with my personal values and gives me the opportunity to help shape inclusive, vibrant events that honor our heritage while fostering unity. I look forward to continuing to grow our reach, engage new generations and ensure that every event reflects the pride, diversity and warmth of our Indian Culture and Heritage.
Entertainment Chair
One of the most profound experiences in my life has been the opportunity to be a part of STICA in various capacities . From just an associate member when I first moved to this area to then helping plan the first India Day in 2005 to then being a logistics chair , which then lead to stage performances and eventually being the Entertainment chair for three terms at different cycles . Being a board member has been a very rewarding experience with its share of sweet and challenging moments . The part I enjoyed the most was being able to collaborate with all the talent we have in the community and help usher in new ideas to keep taking the association forward over the years and leaving a legacy for the next generation.
Communications Chair
I’ve been part of the STICA since last year, working in the communications. I joined to help build stronger connections within the community and to contribute to sharing our culture and events more effectively. It’s been a great experience working with the STICA team - everyone is very supportive and encouraging.
Interim Food Chair
After living in the community for over a decade now I'm honored to be part of STICA. Taking on the role of food chair is truly an honor and I am incredibly excited to contribute in such a flavorful way! I believe food is the heart of our culture, bringing us together for celebrations, comfort and connections. Im excited to work with our amazing team of volunteers to plan meals that not only taste incredible but also reflect the rich diversity of our Indian culture.
Interim Membership Chair
I’m deeply passionate about Indian culture and committed to building a strong, inclusive community around it. I believe cultural organizations thrive when members feel connected, engaged, and valued — and I see the Membership Head role as central to making that happen.
I’m excited about the opportunity to welcome new members, understand their interests, and create initiatives that help them feel involved.
My goal is to help grow the organization not just in numbers, but in unity and impact — by strengthening connections among members and making our cultural presence stronger both within and outside the community.
Treasurer
I joined Corning inc. in 2023 and was soon invited to volunteer with STICA. I saw it as a great opportunity to build connections and become part of a vibrant community. Serving with STICA allows me to give back while celebrating and sharing our rich Indian culture. It’s also a meaningful way to help my kids stay connected to their roots. I'm proud to be part of an organization that brings people together through culture and service.
Interim Website
I’m passionate about connecting people and making sure they have access to the right information at the right time. This not only helps keep our community informed and engaged but also celebrates our cultural identity and nurtures a strong sense of belonging. Being part of STICA has brought me and my family closer to our roots and given us a deeper connection to our heritage.
Websites are often the first place people turn to for information and connection. I’d love to contribute to STICA’s website and help shape it into a welcoming, reliable resource that reflects our community’s unity, cultural pride, and spirit of support.
