As a youth volunteer, you can:
Help backstage with performances or manage the sign-in desk
Capture event highlights through photos and videos

Do you enjoy organizing, coordinating, or creating? This is your chance to turn that passion into purpose! STICA conducts three signature events and a summer picnic each year—and behind every successful event is a dedicated team making it happen. This role offers a unique opportunity to learn the ins and outs of community event planning while contributing to something meaningful and fun. Whether you’re managing logistics, designing flyers, or posting on social media, your role helps bring the STICA spirit to life!
As part of the Events & Marketing team, you'll support event coordination, promotions, and outreach. You’ll work alongside the Event Chair and help with planning, setup, visual marketing, and digital engagement. This role gives you a broad perspective of how STICA events come together—making you the jack of all trades!
Event Coordination
Assist with behind-the-scenes logistics and scheduling
Support the Event Chair with communications and planning
Help during the event with registration, setup, and general coordination
Promotions & Visual Content
Create flyers and promotional materials using Canva
Help design event visuals and maintain brand consistency
Collaborate on event announcements and reminders
Social Media Engagement
Capture moments during events through photography or short videos
Assist with video editing and reel creation (optional)
Curate and schedule content for STICA's social media platforms
Monitor comments and messages and help engage with the online community
Are you someone who enjoys meeting new people, making them feel welcome, and connecting them to the community? Join the STICA Membership Team and help us grow a vibrant, engaged, and connected Indian American community. The Membership Team plays a key role in expanding and strengthening the STICA community. Your main focus will be on encouraging new sign-ups, explaining membership benefits, and supporting registration during events. From preparing ticket envelopes to interacting with attendees at the registration desk, you'll help create a smooth and welcoming experience.
Membership Outreach & Support
Help new families and individuals sign up for STICA membership
Explain the value of membership (e.g. discounted event tickets, community updates, exclusive access)
Serve as a friendly point of contact during events and gatherings
Event Support
Prepare ticket envelopes for pre-registered guests
Assist at the registration desk during events
Ensure a smooth, organized check-in process in coordination with the Chair
Community Engagement & Retention
Support efforts to retain existing members through outreach and communication
Help brainstorm and implement membership drives or referral activities

From selecting menus to coordinating with vendors, your role directly shapes how the community experiences our culture—one plate at a time. This is your chance to turn your foodie passion into something meaningful and memorable for everyone who attends.

Whether you're an artist, an organizer, or an idea generator, this is the perfect space to help shape unforgettable cultural experiences for our community.
Entertainment is at the heart of every STICA event. From classical dance to fusion music, games to trivia, the Entertainment Team curates it all. This role involves identifying and coordinating performers, supporting backstage efforts, and introducing fresh talent to our diverse stage. You’ll work closely with artists and the Event Chair to make sure the entertainment segment flows smoothly and leaves a lasting impact.
From budget planning to program coordination, this team ensures that STICA’s stage remains a celebration of community, talent, and joy.
Talent Coordination & Curation
Identify and invite performers from within the community
Plan a balanced mix of music, dance, and other creative acts
Introduce new talent and foster collaborations among artists
Creative Programming
Suggest fresh and engaging stage ideas beyond performances—such as games, trivia, or interactive segments
Work with MCs or anchors to script and structure the flow of events
Event-Day Support
Help with backstage coordination during performances
Ensure timely transitions between acts and provide performer support
Assist in securing budget for entertainment needs and managing schedules

Many of our current Board Members began their journey as general volunteers—growing organically into leadership roles through hands-on involvement. This is a great way to get to know the inner workings of STICA and find your calling along the way.
